A native Floridian with deep roots in the Tampa Bay music scene, Bob Gambino’s relationship with music stretches back decades. Long before Bob Gambino Music took shape, he was writing songs, working in studios, and performing with bands throughout Tampa Bay and across the country. Growing up on a steady diet of classic rock, hard rock, blues, and the powerful storytelling of the artists who came before him, Bob was drawn as much to why a song worked as to the performance itself. That curiosity eventually took him behind the recording console, where he developed his skills in composition, arrangement, recording, and studio engineering. Throughout his early musical career, Bob worked with a variety of musicians and bands, performing throughout Florida before opportunities took him well beyond his home state. Years spent playing clubs, theaters, festivals, and venues across the country gave him an education that couldn’t be learned from a book—the realities of performing live, connecting with an audience, and understanding what separates a technically good song from one people actually remember. At the same time, the studio became another home. Bob’s experience as a composer and studio engineer allowed him to approach music from both sides of the glass. He learned to hear songs not simply as a vocalist or writer, but as complete arrangements—understanding how the guitars, rhythm section, keyboards, vocals, dynamics, and production all have to work together to serve the story. Eventually, however, music had to share the stage with something more important. Family. Bob stepped away from actively pursuing songwriting and performing to concentrate on raising his family and building a life outside the music business. He never completely walked away from music, but the relentless pursuit of it took a back seat. The experiences accumulated during those years would ultimately become some of the most important material he had ever had to write about. When Bob returned his focus to songwriting, he wasn’t interested in trying to recreate the musician he’d been years earlier. He began writing from the perspective of the man he’d become. Marriage. Family. Work. Loss. Friendship. Regret. Getting older. Starting over. Watching people come and go. Making mistakes. Surviving things you never expected to face—and discovering that somehow you’re still standing when the dust clears. Those experiences became the foundation of Bob Gambino Music. His songs are built around storytelling first, blending alternative rock, hard rock, post-grunge, melodic rock, and heavier modern influences with lyrics grounded in real human experiences. Some songs are deeply personal. Others tell stories inspired by people, places, and situations encountered over a lifetime. But they share the same philosophy: The song has to mean something. That philosophy is at the heart of the album Still Standing, a 10-track collection exploring resilience, love, loss, memory, struggle, and the experiences that leave their mark on a person’s life. Songs including “Still Standing,” “Scars Don’t Lie,” “Finding My Way Back Home,” and “Picture in My Vest” approach those themes from different directions while remaining connected by the same emphasis on honest storytelling. Today, Bob brings together the different chapters of his musical life—as a composer, songwriter, vocalist, studio engineer, and bandleader—alongside Zane Blackwood, Ryder Vaughn, Drake Holloway, Mason Cross, and Lena Raven. And while the music may be heavier and the perspective comes with a few more miles on it, the reason for making it hasn’t changed. It’s about connecting with somebody on the other side of the speakers. “I’ve lived enough life now to know that everybody has a story. The details may be different, but the feelings usually aren’t. That’s what I want these songs to be about.” Real stories. Real music. Real life.

Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, Drake Holloway grew up surrounded by music. His father kept an old bass guitar in the house, and by the time Drake was thirteen, curiosity had turned into an obsession.

While most of his friends wanted to be the guitarist standing at the front of the stage, Drake was drawn to what was happening underneath it all — the rhythm, the groove, and the low end that held everything together.

His early influences crossed generations, from classic hard rock and Southern rock to grunge, alternative metal, and the heavier melodic rock that emerged during the 1990s and 2000s. Drake developed a playing style built around powerful, melodic bass lines rather than simply following the guitar.

By his late teens, Drake was already playing clubs throughout the Tampa Bay area, eventually joining the St. Petersburg hard-rock band Deadwater Road. The band built a strong regional following and spent several years touring throughout Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and the Carolinas.

After Deadwater Road came to an end, Drake joined Stone Divide, an alternative hard-rock band based out of Atlanta. The move put him on the road extensively, including several nationwide supporting tours and appearances at rock festivals throughout the Southeast and Midwest.

Following his time with Stone Divide, Drake returned home to Florida and became a sought-after session and touring bassist. His ability to lock tightly with a drummer while still giving a song movement and personality earned him a reputation as a dependable musician who cared more about making the song work than showing off.

When the Bob Gambino band began taking shape, Drake's combination of experience, musicianship, and vocal ability made him a natural fit. More importantly, his philosophy matched the music: the song always comes first.

"You don't always notice the bass when it's there. But take it away, and suddenly you realize what's been holding the whole damn thing together."

Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Lena Raven began playing piano at six years old and spent much of her childhood studying classical music. By her teenage years, however, her musical interests had shifted toward rock.

In her early twenties, Lena became a fixture in Florida's rock scene, playing clubs throughout Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, and South Florida. She first gained attention as the keyboardist for the Tampa-based alternative rock band Black Harbor.

After several years with Black Harbor, Lena joined melodic hard-rock band The Hollow Saints, touring extensively throughout the Southeast and eventually joining supporting runs that took her across much of the United States.

Following the breakup of The Hollow Saints, Lena spent several years working as a touring and session keyboardist, contributing piano, organ, synthesizer, and orchestral arrangements to independent rock recordings.

Lena eventually crossed paths with Bob Gambino through musicians in the Florida rock community. Her combination of classical training, rock instincts, and ability to build atmosphere around a song made her a natural fit for Gambino's story-driven music.

"You can play a thousand notes and say absolutely nothing. I'd rather play the one note that makes somebody feel something."

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Mason Cross grew up in a working-class family where showing up, working hard, and finishing what you started weren’t lessons—they were expectations. An athlete through much of his youth, Mason discovered drums at thirteen when he sat behind a friend’s battered kit and realized almost immediately that he’d found the one thing capable of matching the energy he carried around inside him. What started as an outlet quickly became an obsession. Mason spent his teenage years teaching himself by playing along with records, absorbing everything from classic hard rock and metal to grunge and alternative rock. His athletic background shaped the way he approached the instrument: disciplined, physical, and relentless. Rather than chasing flashy technique for its own sake, Mason became focused on timing, power, and the ability to drive a band without getting in the way of the song. In his early twenties, he joined Cleveland hard-rock outfit Iron Divide, spending several years playing clubs throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, and western New York. The band’s reputation as a powerful live act eventually earned them opening slots for established touring artists passing through the Midwest. Mason’s next chapter came with Redline Saints, a heavier alternative-rock band that pushed him onto the road full time. Over several years, the group toured extensively across the United States, appearing on multi-band touring packages and regional rock festivals from the Midwest and East Coast to Texas and the Southeast. It was during those years that Mason earned a reputation among other musicians as a drummer who simply didn’t fall apart under pressure. Broken equipment, bad monitors, last-minute set changes, long drives, or a crowd of ten thousand people made little difference. When the count came in, Mason was ready. After years of touring, Mason eventually stepped away from Redline Saints and relocated to Florida, where he began working as a session drummer and filling in for touring acts that needed someone capable of learning material quickly and performing it consistently night after night. That work eventually put him in the orbit of Bob Gambino. When the Bob Gambino band began coming together, Mason was brought in initially to work through several songs. The chemistry was immediate. His combination of power and restraint gave the music exactly what it needed—a drummer capable of hitting hard when the song demanded it but experienced enough to know when not to. Mason became the band’s permanent drummer and the rhythmic foundation behind the Bob Gambino sound. Behind the kit, his style is unmistakably physical: deep grooves, heavy kick drums, authoritative fills, and the kind of precision that makes a band feel bigger without making the drums the center of attention. Offstage, he’s almost the opposite—grounded, loyal, and usually the calmest person in the room. Years of touring have made Mason protective of the people he considers family, and today that includes the musicians standing beside him on stage. He doesn’t talk much about accomplishments, old tours, or the size of the crowds he’s played for. Ask him what matters and his answer is considerably simpler: “My job is to give everybody else something they can trust. If the band turns around and I’m still right there, I’ve done my job.” For Mason Cross, the drums aren’t there to follow the music. They’re the heartbeat underneath it.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Ryder Vaughn discovered music through the punk, alternative, and post-grunge records that dominated his bedroom as a teenager. He picked up his first guitar at fourteen, learned a handful of chords, and almost immediately started writing songs rather than worrying about playing them exactly the way someone else had.

That instinct never really left him.

By seventeen, Ryder was playing all-ages clubs and basement shows around Baltimore and Washington, D.C., developing a raw, energetic style built around heavy rhythm guitar, melodic hooks, and the belief that a great song didn't have to be complicated to hit hard.

In his early twenties, Ryder co-founded the alternative rock band Crash Theory, serving as rhythm guitarist and occasional lead vocalist. The group developed a loyal East Coast following and spent several years touring the club circuit from Boston to Atlanta. Their independent EP Beautiful Disaster became a regional favorite and helped the band land opening slots for several nationally touring rock acts.

When Crash Theory eventually ran its course, Ryder headed west and joined Neon Saints, a Los Angeles-based alternative rock band that blended punk attitude with modern hard rock. The move marked the beginning of the most intense touring period of his career.

Over the next several years, Ryder toured extensively throughout the United States, playing clubs, theaters, college events, and rock festivals. Neon Saints eventually landed supporting spots on two national tours, giving Ryder his first experience performing night after night in front of audiences numbering in the thousands.

It was also where he learned one of the most important lessons of his career: a rhythm guitarist isn't there simply to play underneath the lead guitarist. He's there to make the entire band sound bigger.

After Neon Saints dissolved, Ryder spent several years bouncing between touring projects, studio sessions, and songwriting collaborations. Never particularly interested in staying in one musical lane, he worked with punk bands, alternative artists, hard-rock projects, and singer-songwriters — an experience that greatly expanded the way he approached guitar.

Eventually tired of Los Angeles and life as a hired gun, Ryder relocated to Florida, where he became involved in the Tampa Bay music community. That's where his path eventually crossed with Bob Gambino.

Ryder was originally brought in to play guitar on several rehearsals. His style was noticeably different from the musicians around him — looser, more instinctive, and heavily influenced by punk and alternative rock — but that difference quickly became an advantage.

Alongside lead guitarist Zane Blackwood, Ryder found his place. Where Zane could take a song into technically demanding territory, Ryder became the engine underneath it — heavy chords, melodic riffs, unusual voicings, and an instinctive sense of when to leave space. Their contrasting approaches created a two-guitar sound that became an important part of the Bob Gambino band.

Ryder's personality is equally important to the group. He's energetic, creative, quick with a joke, and usually the first person trying something nobody else suggested. Onstage, he's constantly moving and interacting with the audience, carrying some of the punk-rock attitude he developed playing crowded clubs years earlier.

Offstage, that energy translates into songwriting. Ryder is rarely without a guitar nearby and has a habit of turning rehearsals, soundchecks, and even mistakes into new riffs.

"The best things I've ever played usually started with somebody saying, 'What the hell was that?' So I played it again."

That unpredictability, creativity, and connection with the crowd have made Ryder Vaughn more than the band's rhythm guitarist. He's the spark that keeps things dangerous.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Zane Blackwood grew up in a city where music was impossible to ignore. Blues, jazz, rock, gospel, and soul poured out of clubs, churches, street corners, and neighborhood gatherings, giving him an appreciation for musicians who could make an instrument speak long before he ever understood the technique behind it. Zane received his first guitar at eleven and began formal lessons soon afterward. What started with basic chords quickly developed into serious study. During his teenage years, he trained in classical guitar and music theory while spending his nights learning blues and rock records by ear. That combination would eventually define his playing. By eighteen, Zane was performing throughout New Orleans and Baton Rouge, moving easily between blues groups, rock bands, and session work. He became known not simply for his technical ability, but for an unusually expressive style that could move from a quiet melodic passage into an explosive solo without losing the emotion of the song. In his early twenties, Zane joined New Orleans hard-rock band Black River Revival. The group developed a strong following throughout Louisiana and Texas before expanding onto the Southeastern touring circuit. Their second independent album, Ashes & Gold, brought the band wider attention and led to opening appearances for several nationally touring rock acts. After nearly five years with Black River Revival, Zane was recruited by Southern Crown, a heavier melodic-rock band based in Nashville. That move began the most demanding touring period of his career. Over the next several years, Zane performed across the United States on multiple national supporting tours, festival appearances, and extended theater runs. His reputation as a live guitarist grew along with the band, particularly because of solos that changed from night to night rather than simply reproducing the studio recording. During that period, Zane also became increasingly active as a session guitarist, contributing lead guitar, acoustic guitar, and arrangement work to independent rock, blues, and alternative projects. Eventually, the constant touring took its toll. When Southern Crown went on indefinite hiatus, Zane stepped away from the road and returned to session work, spending several years concentrating on the part of music he’d always cared about most: creating something that actually made people feel. That decision ultimately led him to Bob Gambino. Zane was introduced to Gambino through mutual contacts in the Florida music community and was initially asked to contribute guitar to several songs. The connection was immediate. Gambino’s emphasis on storytelling gave Zane something he had been searching for—a reason for the guitar to exist beyond simply demonstrating what he could play. He joined the Bob Gambino band as lead guitarist, eventually developing a distinctive partnership with rhythm guitarist Ryder Vaughn. The contrast between them became one of the band’s strengths. Ryder brings raw energy, unconventional ideas, and punk-influenced rhythm work; Zane brings precision, dynamics, and a deeply melodic approach to lead guitar. When the two styles collide, the result is a layered guitar sound that can move from restrained and atmospheric to enormous and aggressive. Onstage, Zane is intense but rarely theatrical for the sake of attention. He can command a stage during a solo and then disappear back into the arrangement seconds later. His playing incorporates melodic bends, blues phrasing, harmonics, rapid alternate picking, tapping, and technically demanding passages—but technique is always secondary to emotion. Away from the stage, Zane is considerably quieter. Thoughtful and intensely focused on his craft, he’s the band member most likely to still be sitting with a guitar long after rehearsal has ended, experimenting with a tone or searching for a melody nobody else has heard yet. Despite years of touring and thousands of hours behind a guitar, Zane has never considered mastery to be the goal. “Anybody can learn where the notes are. The hard part is figuring out which ones actually need to be played.” That philosophy has become central to Zane Blackwood’s role in the Bob Gambino band. He isn’t interested in playing the most notes. He’s interested in playing the ones you’ll remember.
